The product covered by the Protected Designation of Origin “Pera de Jumilla” is the fruit of the species Pyrus communis L., from the Ercolini variety, of the Extra and I categories, intended for fresh consumption.
The Spanish Ercolini variety is characterized by obtaining a type of very sweet, medium-sized pear, pyriform and regular in shape, with a fleshy peduncle of medium length. Its epidermis is thin, light green fading to yellow, with a crimson veneer on its sunny face. Its pulp is white and juicy, with a sweet, sugary and slightly perfumed flavor with an excellent flavor.
